Olympics Opening Ceremony, London 2012

Wow! Danny Boyle created the most mesmerising, heart pounding, energetic extravaganza possible. He celebrated all the amazing aspects of Britain- namely the People.

Britain is culturally rich with an immense history and incredible people with outstanding achievements. From the authors, songwriters, singers, inventors, gaining the women’s vote and the NHS – he really showed the world what Britain has to be proud about. Even an acting debut from the Queen alongside James Bond – impressive.

If you haven’t watched it – you must! Check out BBC iPlayer.

We loved it!

P.S It has reignited our Love for Mr.Bean :)

TUK Store

Last Night we attended the launch party for TUK Store. Fabulous opening for a fantastic platform.  Transmission UK CIC (TUK) is a community interest company providing free complementary healthcare to people with life-limiting and life threatening conditions.  They have created this fantastic platform for artists and designers to sell their work with the proceeds going towards the healthcare.

It was a wonderful night – highlighting all the great talent in London. Mark Hix’s new restaurant ‘Tramshed’ just opposite TUK Store served up the most delicious canapés and Calloy Callay and in the know cocktail bar served up powerful concoctions. All this rounded off with some super delicious chocolate cup cakes from Say Cheese. Wonderful event.

Creative director Emma Hill’s cutesy, all-things-English fetish took to the festive seaside in a continuation of Resort. There’s a joke here about the wetness and less-than-sizzling temperatures of a British summer. Mulberry was prepared for the rainy British summer in 2012.

The Squidders love the poppy rain wear!

mary-poppins-1964-06-g

Mary Poppins, we all dreamed about having a Nanny as cool as her. Soaring the skies with her parrot headed umbrella, her bottomless bag! If only cleaning up was as much fun as she made it, “Just a Spoonful Of Sugar..” we all know the song.

Originally books, the incredible adventures of Mary Poppins at ‘Seventeen Cherry Tree Lane’ were made into the famous Disney film, we all love, starring the amazing Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke in 1964.

We hope we have inspired a few of you to watch it again.

P.S How many times can you say ‘Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious’ ? ;-)

This hand painted umbrella is part of a project called the Umbrella Objective, where 20 white umbrellas were delivered to 20 artists. They filmed and documented their work, which was presented on the 17th June in Glasgow as part of Artfusion.

So beautiful and exclusive!

If you have not seen Kusama’s retrospective exhibition in the Tate Modern London, definitely check it out in New York City’s Whitney Museum of American Art

Salvation Jane

Yummy. This café is delicious. Opened by the same cool people that own Lantana in Charlotte Street, this place is perfect for breakfast, brunch and lunch.  They even have gluten and wheat free bread and it tastes good – big achievement.

We had the BERT – Toasted sandwich with crispy organic bacon, a fried egg, rocket, fresh tomato aioli. Plus, sauteed mixed mushrooms on gluten free toast with poached eggs and lemon herb feta. Highly recommended. They also have incredible fresh juices and obviously fantastic coffee.
