Queen's Diamond Jubilee

The Jubilant spirit is heating up, along with the weather! Besides being extremely excited that we get a 4-day weekend, celebrating the Queen and her 60 years in rein is rather exhilarating. Deciding where to watch the 7 mile long flotilla of boats down the Thames, the grandest event to ever be hosted on the River Thames, is tricky one. Every riverside bar and spacious patch will be packed. This website (click here) has few suggestions.

The Queens procession in her ornate, amazingly over-the-top carriage, down the Mall is what we are looking forward to the most. The Golden Jubilee 10 years ago was such a great fun weekend full of Street party’s, the incredible fly past (that included 27 aircraft from the Royal Air Force and a Concorde from British Airways) and seeing the Queen herself. This time around it will be even more wonderful; A Swordfish bi-plane, the only one of its kind still flying, is to lead a “Diamond Nine” flypast of Royal Navy helicopters - excitement!! And, Her Royal Majesty’s carriage will have to out do her last one..!

Enjoy yourselves.

HOW TO SHOWER LIKE A WOMAN

Take off clothes and place them sectioned in the laundry basket according to lights and darks. Walk to bathroom wearing long dressing gown. If you see boyfriend or husband along the way, cover up any exposed areas. Look at your womanly physique in the mirror – make mental note to do more sit-ups/leg-lifts, etc.

Get in the shower. Use face cloth, arm cloth, leg cloth, long loofah, wide loofah and pumice stone. Wash your hair once with cucumber and sage shampoo with 43 added vitamins. Wash your hair again to make sure it is clean. Condition your hair with conditioner enhanced with grapefruit and mint. Wash your face with crushed apricot facial scrub for 10 minutes until red. Wash entire rest of body with ginger nut and jaffa-cake body wash. Rinse conditioner off hair. Shave armpits and legs. Turn off shower.

Squeegee off all wet surfaces in shower. Spray mould spots with Tile cleaner.

Get out of shower. Dry with towel the size of a small country. Wrap hair in a super absorbent towel. Return to bedroom wearing long dressing gown and the hand towel on head. If you see your husband or your boyfriend along the way, cover up any exposed areas.

HOW TO SHOWER LIKE A MAN

Take off clothes while sitting on the edge of the bed and leave in a pile on the floor. Walk naked to the bathroom. Look at your manly physique in the mirror and scratch your bum.

Get in the shower. Wash your face. Wash your armpits. Blow your nose in your hands and let the water rinse it off. Fart and laugh at how loud it sounds in the shower. Spend majority of time washing privates and surrounding area. Wash your bum, leaving those coarse bum hairs stuck on the soap. Wash your hair (if any). Make a Shampoo Mohawk. Wee. Rinse off and get out of shower.

Partially dry off. Fail to notice water on floor because curtain was hanging out of bath the whole time. Admire yourself in mirror again. Leave shower curtain open, wet mat on floor, light and fan on. Throw wet towel on bed.

I KNOW YOU’RE LAUGHING NOW BECAUSE MOST OF IT IS TRUE! ! ! ! !

Anyway, for the ladies here, if you want to get hold of SquidLondon’s beauty shower curtain (psst… changing colour when wet) follow the link here

The original British saying is:

Something old, something new
Something borrowed, something blue
And a silver sixpence in her shoe.

The Wedding season has started again and we could not help sharing this picture we found on Design Notes Blog. Congratulations to this very modern bride Lindsey Wynans, a residential designer in Houston who had her bridal portraits taken at the DWR Studio.

That the something new is a bouquet of paper flowers is just brilliant – we wonder if they can be switched on like a lamp too.

Believe it or not, telephone boxes are in again. GILES DEACON, Zandra Rhodes, Julien Macdonald and photographer Willie Christie are set to add their unique stamp on the iconic red telephone box as part of a new art project, BT ArtBox, that marks the 25th anniversary of Childline. On Thursday May 24, Harvey Nichols will display the works in its Knightsbridge shop’s windows, before each design is placed in different locations across the capital. The next trend could be colour changing cabs…

Scruffbag Productions

Last night we were fortunate enough to be invited to Scruffbag Productions Film Screening at The Horse Hospital in London.

They screened two incredible films; ‘Once Removed’, a heartfelt depiction of two young women almost forced to reconnect over a death of a loved one. Yes, there were definitely many tears!! The second film was ‘The Boxer’, a wonderful script written by 17 year old Daniel Bailey, exploring the turmoil of a young Boxer before going to the fight of his life. Also pulled on the heart strings..!

It was an incredible evening and so inspiring. World – here comes Scruffbag Productions!!
We cant wait to see many more films produced by this awesome production company founded by Henry Blake, Kristin McIlquham and Victoria Bavister.
Check them out: http://www.scruffbagproductions.com/

Colour Splash, Damien Hirst

Damien Hirst, you either love him or you hate him.
Everybody seems to have an opinion on him.
We have been to most of his exhibitions over the past 6 years in London as his approach is something of interest. We couldn’t miss the chance to see all of his creations in one building, from the beautiful dead butterfly paintings to the Shark floating in formaldehyde and the cows heads swarming in flies and maggots.
The Colour Splash pictures above are the ones we probably most identify with :)
Enjoy the Exhibition 4 April – 9 September 2012  at the Tate Modern .
